Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

This policy explains what data the PiedGraph app collects, why, and how it's handled. PiedGraph is a photo-editing app with an optional social feature (Discover) for sharing photos and filter presets with other users.

Account information

Creating an account requires an email address and a display name. Account sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). PiedGraph never sees or stores your password directly — Firebase Authentication does.

Permissions

Location

When you take a photo in the app, PiedGraph looks up an approximate place name for it — a city and region, such as "Miami, FL". Nothing finer than that is kept: your coordinates are used momentarily to obtain the name, using your device's own geocoding service, and are not stored by us or uploaded to our servers. If you publish that photo, the place name is published with it and is visible to other users.

This is controlled by a Location switch in the app's Settings, and it is on by default. Turning it off stops the lookup entirely. It also requires the system location permission, so declining that permission has the same effect. Photos you never publish keep their place name on your device only.

Usage analytics

To learn which features people actually use, the app sends usage events to Google Analytics for Firebase: which screens are opened, which camera mode a photo was taken in, which editing tools and effects were applied (by their internal names), whether saving or publishing a photo succeeded, and when you sign in. These events never include your photos, captions, titles, descriptions, email address or location. Google Analytics also records standard device information (such as the device model and operating-system version) and an app-instance identifier, which is not linked to your account.

This is controlled by a Share Usage Analytics switch in the app's Settings, and it is on by default. Turning it off stops collection on your device straight away.

What we don't do

PiedGraph does not use advertising SDKs or third-party trackers, and usage analytics are never used for advertising or to build a profile of you. We don't track your location in the background or record your movements. We don't sell data to anyone.

Third-party processing

Account data, published photos, and preset data are stored using Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage), a Google Cloud service. Usage analytics are processed by Google Analytics for Firebase. Google's handling of this infrastructure is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Your controls

You can delete your own published photos and presets from within the app at any time.

You can also delete your entire account and its data yourself, from Settings → Delete account. Deletion begins immediately and is not reversible. If you have already uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email us instead and we will do it for you. Full details of what is removed are on the Delete Your Account page.

Children's privacy

PiedGraph is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
